Taco Seasoning Mix
Have you ever wondered what’s in those little packets of taco seasoning mix you buy at the store? Sure, they’re convenient, especially when you’re trying to get a quick dinner together during the week; but, here’s an inexpensive way to make your own taco seasoning mix and you’ll never even consider those weird little packets with all those ingredients you can’t pronounce, ever again.
This taco seasoning mix is quick and easy to make. Simply gather a few basic spices that you probably already have on hand and you’re ready to go. In fact, it’s so easy, you can even get the kids to make it!
How to use your Taco Seasoning Mix:
Brown 1 lb of ground beef in a heavy skillet. Drain; return the meat to the pan. Sprinkle 1/2 Tbsp of flour over the meat and cook over medium heat for a couple of minutes. Add 3 Tbsp of the taco seasoning mix* and 2/3 cup water. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer about 5 minutes.
*use more or less of the taco seasoning mix, depending on how mild or hot you like your taco meat.

- 1/4 cup chili powder (1/4 c = 4 Tbsp)
- 2 Tbsp cumin
- 4 tsp sea salt
- 4 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp cayenne

- Combine all of the spices in a bowl; whisk to combine thoroughly.
- Store in a cool dark place in an airtight container.
Depending on how often you make tacos, you might want to make multiple batches of this seasoning mix at one time. This recipe can easily be doubled, tripled or quadrupled to meet your needs.
