Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl

- Spread the hot fudge and peanut butter on a small plate and place in freezer to chill.
- In a small saucepan combine the sugar, milk, salt and cocoa powder. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly to avoid scorching. Bring mixture to a simmer.
- Place egg yolks in a small bowl and lightly whisk. Slowly pour about 3/4 cup of the hot chocolate mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly. Return the egg mixture to the saucepan, whisking in to combine. Heat until thickened, but do not let it come to a boil. Remove from heat.
- Immediately add the chopped chocolate to the hot chocolate mixture and stir until it has completely melted. Pour through fine sieve into a chilled bowl and refrigerate for several hours until cold; occasionally, stir the mixture.
- When the chocolate mixture is completely cool, stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
- Pour into your ice cream maker and freeze. *Follow the manufacturer's directions for your ice cream maker. During the last few minutes of freezing, drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter and hot fudge (alternating) into the ice cream.
How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl Ice Cream
Gather a few basic ingredients and you’re ready to start making your own homemade ice cream.
Combine sugar, milk, salt and cocoa powder. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
Whisk about 3/4 cup of the hot chocolate mixture into the egg yolks, then return the egg mixture back to the pan.
Continue cooking until chocolate mixture thickens, but don’t boil. Remove from heat and add chopped chocolate, stir to completely melt the chocolate.
Pour the chocolate mixture through a fine sieve.
Chill mixture for several hours. Stir in heavy cream and vanilla. Freeze according to the directions for your ice cream maker. This is the ice cream maker I use and it works great every time!

I absolutely adore peanut butter but don’t really like the ice cream so when I saw this recipe I knew I had to try it. The peanut butter and fudge swirls in the chocolate ice cream were a nice surprise in it.
