I did a lot of research before I purchased the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. There are certainly a lot of great ice cream freezers on the market, but after reading the various reviews I found this one to be not only affordable, but one that was very popular among consumers. It is available in white, red and turquoise, which gives you a selection of fun colors to choose from.
After having used an electric ice cream maker that required crushed ice and salt, this ice cream freezer was a real treat to operate. I keep the freezer bowl in the back of my freezer and it is always ready to make frozen desserts. You can make ice cream, sherbet, sorbet and frozen yogurt. The possibilities are endless. If you want to add ingredients such as fruit, nuts, peanut butter, hot fudge, candy, raisins, chocolate or some other favorite indulgence, simply add it through the top feed hole during the last 5 minutes of processing.
Every recipe for sherbet or ice cream is a little different, but they are all generally pretty quick and easy to put together. In fact, it usually takes less than 5 minutes to make a base for any one of these frozen desserts. Once you have your base made, it is a good idea to chill it for several hours or overnight. When the base is cold and the freezer bowl has chilled for at least 24 hours, you simply place the freezer bowl on the machine, turn it on and pour in your base mixture. In about 15 to 20 minutes, your frozen yogurt, ice cream or other frozen desserts are ready to serve.
The ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet or sherbet comes out a lovely soft serve texture, but if you prefer it a little more solid, simply place it in a chilled bowl and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. This machine has made my kids fans of creating their own desserts and they never ask for the store bought treats!
Make sure the bowl is completely frozen before you start and you will have excellent results every time! There are certainly other options, this just happens to be my favorite. Here are some other great choices to consider.
