This is definitely a kid-friendly sandwich! I have a Pampered Chef Cut N Seal, which trims the crusts and crimps the edges; I’m not sure if they still sell them. Anyway, the kids love it when I make them little pocket sandwiches with this thing, so I made their grilled PB&J sandwiches with the Cut N Seal. Basically, it just encloses the ingredients between the slices of bread.
Of course, you could use any shape sandwich cutter you have, including a glass or biscuit cutter. For the older kids, I just make a regular sandwich, then grill it and cut it in half. The ooey gooey peanut butter gets warm and yummy, it’s one of our favorite sandwiches.
Forget about boring peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, toast them in a heavy fry pan and you’ll never go back to serving then cold.
To Make the Perfect Grilled PB&J
Butter two slices of bread, then place the bread, buttered side down, on a cutting board.
Spread peanut butter on one piece of bread and your favorite jelly on the other.
Close the sandwich and cook in a heavy cast iron skillet or fry pan on medium heat. When golden brown, turn the sandwich over and toast the other side.
Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it set for a couple of minutes. Cut in half and serve warm.
Here’s a picture of the inside of the sandwich I make for the kids. So delicious!
