Apple Topping
Apple topping is delicious served over waffles, French toast, crepes, ice cream and so much more.
Ingredients:
2 large apples, peeled, cored and diced
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp orange zest
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil; reduce heat and simmer about 10 to 15 minutes until apples are tender. Add more water to apples, if needed.
- Serve over pancakes, Belgian waffles, French toast, crepes or ice cream.
- Apple mixture can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated when needed.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, blend softened apple mixture in a food processor until you have the desired texture or consistency.
