Apple Topping

Apple topping is delicious served over waffles, French toast, crepes, ice cream and so much more.

 

Ingredients:

2 large apples, peeled, cored and diced

3/4 cup orange juice

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp orange zest

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil; reduce heat and simmer about 10 to 15 minutes until apples are tender. Add more water to apples, if needed.
  3. Serve over pancakes, Belgian waffles, French toast, crepes or ice cream.
  4. Apple mixture can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated when needed.

 

If you prefer a smoother sauce, blend softened apple mixture in a food processor until you have the desired texture or consistency.
