Peppermint Meltaways

These delectable little morsels are a perfect combination of yummy cookie topped with a peppermint icing and crushed candy canes. These yummy little treats will look perfect on your cookie tray. Icing:
- 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 - 2 Tbsp milk
- 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
- 2 - 3 drops red food coloring, if desired
- peppermint candy canes, crushed

Instructions
Heat oven to 350°F.
- Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of the dough into 1-inch balls. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes; just until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5-10 minutes on cookie sheets; carefully transfer to cooling rack. Cool completely.
Icing
- In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, softened butter, and peppermint extract with enough milk to bring the icing to the desired consistency. Stir in red food color, if desired.
- Drizzle the icing over cooled cookies. Immediately sprinkle with the crushed candy canes.
