Pan Fried Tilapia Sandwich
This sandwich is one of my favorite lunches. It’s so quick and easy to make, but I feel like I’m eating something substantial. The fish is light and flaky with the perfect seasoning. If you want to cut carbs or calories, just eat the fish with a little side of lettuce and tomato. It’s delicious all on its own!

Instructions
Make the Tartar Sauce:
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, finely minced red onion, pickle relish, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and set aside.
Prepare the Tilapia:
- In a heavy skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter together with the olive oil. Season the tilapia fillets with Old Bay seasoning and garlic powder.
- Gently place the fish fillets in the hot skillet; cook 2 to 3 minutes per side. The fish should be golden brown and flake easily with a fork.
- If using cheese, place 2 slices of cheese on each fillet; cover the pan for a minute or two, just until the cheese melts.
Make the sandwich:
- Place half of the tartar sauce on each of the toasted bread roll bottoms. Place the fried tilapia on top of the tartar sauce. Add lettuce and top of bun. Serve immediately.
