Fried Potatoes

Fried potatoes, or home fries, are a popular side dish. Crispy, lightly seasoned chunks of potatoes add a hearty touch to any breakfast. Our home fries recipe adds just a touch of seasoning and are fried to a golden brown. Everyone loves fried potatoes and these will get rave reviews from your entire family.



6 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
3 Tbsp vegetable or canola oil
3 Tbsp butter
1/4 to 1/2 tsp paprika, to taste
kosher salt, to taste
freshly grated black pepper, to taste



  1. Cube potatoes and rinse under cold water; drain in colander and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Heat oil and butter in large, heavy skillet (preferably cast iron), over medium heat. Add the cubed potatoes and toss to coat with the oil/butter in the pan. Season with paprika, salt and pepper.
  3. Cover pan and cook for about 10 minutes, until potatoes are fork tender. Remove cover and continue cooking for another 10 minutes or until crispy and lightly browned. Turn frequently to brown on all sides.
